What is an ACO?
An ACO, or an Accountable Care Organization, is essentially a connected group of providers who have accepted patient care and financial accountability for those served by the ACO. Working collaboratively to ensure a highly coordinated patient experience, ACO providers utilize a population health management approach to ensure the highest level of care and wellness for ACO members. By working collaboratively and efficiently, ACO providers are rewarded with shared financial incentives that are available only if higher quality and cost efficiencies are achieved.
